The Sideroad Farm Winter CSA features our certified organic veggies, pasture-raised chicken, turkey, pork and eggs as well as all other products that are sold in the Sideroad Farm Store (honey, maple syrup, bread, beef, lamb, dairy, dry goods, coffee, tea, household goods, etc.)

The program is available in Markdale, Collingwood, Meaford and the Blue Mountains. You can also pick up your box from our farm in Walter’s Falls or a depot in Collingwood (on Friday afternoon). It is possible that other depots may be established before the program starts.

Each week we put together a set “Farmer’s Choice Share” of our organic winter vegetables (greens, shoots, squashes, roots and alliums). The cost of the farmers choice share is $35. You can choose to select the Farmer’s Choice CSA share and/or build your own order from the list of available veggies, chicken, pork, beef, turkey and eggs and other products to each delivery. All products sold through the Sideroad Farm Store (our brick and mortar on the farm) are available through the Winter CSA. Ordering, invoicing and payments are all done online. You must be comfortable using our online storefront (LocalLine) to participate in the program.

By making a commitment to join the Winter CSA, members help support our farm through the lean months and allow us to keep our core staff working year-round.

To acknowledge your commitment to our farm through the winter, we offer 10% off on all Sideroad Farm products and 5% off all other products sold through the program to Winter CSA members.

Program Length and Start

The Winter CSA starts the first week of November and deliveries occur every week until the end of March (~20 weeks). You can pick and choose which dates you want to order but at minimum, we expect CSA members to order 10 times through the season.

Available Product

 You will be sent the online ordering site via email on Saturday morning at noon. You are responsible for filling out the order form by 8 am on Tuesday mornings and you must order a minimum of $35 worth of product per delivery. Orders for pick up can be placed up until Thursday at 4pm. For items in short supply (eggs typically in the winter), orders will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

The following is a list of what we expect to be able to offer from our farm over the winter season:

Veggies include but are not limited to: Potatoes, beets, carrots, kale, swiss chard, winter squash, pumpkins, leeks, pea shoots, sunflower shoots, winter magic mix, onions, garlic, head lettuce, salad mix, spinach, celeriac, radishes, salad turnips, kohlrabi, and cabbage.

Pasture-Raised, Organic Fed Chicken: Whole birds, soup birds, boneless/skinless breasts, thighs, wings, drumsticks, ground chicken.

Pasture-Raised, Organic-Fed Turkey (available in end of December): Christmas turkeys and ground turkey.

Pasture-Raised, Organic-Fed Heritage Pork: sausages, bacon, chops, roasts, ground.

Organic Fed Chicken Eggs: Sold by the dozen.

Other products: We are happy to partner with other local farms and food producers to offer products through the Winter CSA that we feel good about selling (and eating!) like local grass-fed beef, fresh baked bread, local sheep yogurt, honey, directly traded chocolate and coffee and maple syrup. All products sold at the Sideroad Farm Store will be available to Winter CSA members this season at a discount of 5% off retail prices. When we sell out of our vegetable storage crops we purchase from Pfennings Organics, an organic farm and wholesaler based in Kitchener Waterloo.

Pricing and Commitment

In order to secure your space in the program we require a minimum deposit of $350 (please feel free to deposit more as some of you can spend that in one delivery). You are not required to spend more than $350 for the whole season. If you do not use the whole amount within the winter season, the deposit is not refundable. We are limiting the number of spaces in the program to try to keep a good supply of veggies available to those who have registered.

Home Delivery ($9.50 fee per delivery) OR Pick Up (no charge)

Home delivery is available to homes located in Meaford, the Town of The Blue Mountains and Collingwood for a cost of $9.50/delivery. You can also pick up your Winter CSA at our farm in Walter’s Falls or from a pick up depot in Collingwood on Friday afternoons for no charge. There may be other depots established
